Looking back at March (and still kind of in shock that we are almost in the middle of April already!) gives me all the good feels because we have officially welcomed Spring! The sun is out a little longer, the temps are starting to warm up, there are flower buds sprouting everywhere you look and it all makes me so happy! I have been loving finding small things that bring joy to my everyday and one of them actually was for Zoey! When I think of the month of March, I think of all things green and St. Patrick’s Day (I am Irish after all haha) and there was definitely no shortage of celebrating on the 17th! We went all out and you’ll have to see for yourself later in this post! I hope this inspires you to find little things through out your day that bring even the slightest bit of joy to your days! Here’s what I was loving in March!
Jordan Lee Dooley Quotes
I stumbled upon Jordan Lee Dooley by hearing about her new book EVERYWHERE that’s called Own Your Everyday! (which, doesn’t that just sound so inspiring?!) I can’t wait for my copy to come in and start reading it! I found her Instagram account and was immediately drawn to her quotes! They are so uplifting and empowering and just makes you want to get up and take control of your life! These are just a few that I LOVE!
Chicago Bean Scene Subscription
After getting a few new coffee gadgets in January I have been wanting to explore and try new types of coffee! I had a genius invention idea that quickly became squashed after discovering that this thing already exists. Coffee. Subscription. Boxes! WHAT! This is soooo cool and I became overwhelmed 5 minutes into my researching and found that there are tons of them out there already! I had no idea which one to choose! I came across Chicago Bean Scene and decided to go with them because they partnered with all coffee roasters that are in the Chicagoland area! I thought that was so cool and of course, I wanted to support the roasters close to home!
In the box there are 4 small bags of different kinds of coffee from different roasters to try and it felt like I was visiting them in person, but actually still in the comfort of my own kitchen! Haha! I’m excited to continue my little journey of trying new coffees from all over!
Instax Polaroid Camera
If you know ANYTHING about me, you know that I’m IN LOVE with documenting my life. I am and always will be a photographer at heart, no matter what type of camera it is that I use! I’ve had my eye on this square Instax camera for over a year, but I never pulled the trigger and got it, but in March I finally did! I loved the look of the classic square polaroid photo but I like that these are slightly smaller! I have been bringing this thing with my everywhere and I’m planning on making a photo wall in my office with them!
Ball Muffin Tin Game For Zoey
Over the winter months, Zoey struggles with boredom (I know this because she tells me haha jk but for real). We can’t spend as much time outside in the winter so she is cooped up inside all day everyday and it has been making me so sad! I thought about doing some research to find doggy activities to bring some joy and excitement to her days, even if it’s just for a few minutes! I found a few blogs with ideas but this muffin tin game looked SO cute and fun! You are supposed to hide small treats in the sections and put a ball over it so she has to figure out how to get to the treat! The main post I saw used all tennis balls in the muffin tin but I liked the idea of using different sized and textures so it’s a different ball each time! At first she was SO weirded out by it and didn’t get it, but by day 2 she LOVED it! Now when I see that she’s been on the couch for a while, I’ll get up and say “you wanna play your ball game?!” and she jumps up ready to go! It is the cutest thing! Now I need to find more indoor games for the rest of the weeks of chilly weather we have!
My Cozy Coffee Corner
Yup. I will admit it. I have a coffee obsession (if you couldn’t tell already haha). The very thing that gets me up and out of bed every day is knowing that I get to make a yummy warm cup of coffee and that makes me so happy! Just the act of making the coffee makes me happy, but I wanted to add even MORE joy to this part of my morning by making a cozy coffee corner! I recently got new canisters (here and here) to put my coffee grounds and sugar in to put on the counter (because it’s obviously prettier than having the tub of Foldger’s sitting out, duhh haha)! I love how it turned out and it makes me SO happy! Here’s a little video of my morning coffee routine!
Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
Ohhhkay! This was so much fun! I always look forward to celebrating holidays and St. Patrick’s Day sometimes falls short on the celebrating. But I think quarantine and just the lack of seeing people makes me want to go even more all out to bring joy to the holiday in our home! I have been on a kick with making cut out sugar cookies and when I realized I had a clover cutter- I HAD to go for it! I also love making my own royal icing and mixing together the perfect colors for what my vision is! These turned out SO cute and of course, very yummy!
I of course had to wear my only green shirt in my closet (to keep from getting pinched!) and I was on a mission to make a green and orange plant based dinner! We have been eating less meat and more whole foods over the past year and we just feel SO GOOD when we do! We made what I called “Irish Bowls” and it was seriously so yummy!!
We ended the night by going on a shamrock shake run and watched The Luck of the Irish!! I haven’t seen this movie in probably over 8-10 years so it was SO fun to see it again and it was just as cute as what I remembered! It was a very festive day and it made St. Patrick’s Day in 2021 very memorable!
