When I start the planning process with my couples about their engagement sessions, one of the first things I try to figure out is what type of look they want for the location of the shoot. Do they like more of a nature/foresty look? Garden/whimsical look? Beachy? Small town “downtown” feel or even a larger scale “downtown” look like Chicago! When this question was brought up to Kellie, there was no hesitation. Downtown Chicago!! There was no other place! They wanted to show off the gorgeous skyline in their photos so we decided to take the shoot to two locations in Chicago that have, in my opinion, the BEST views of the city! Milton Lee Olive Park and North Avenue Beach!
We planned on a day during the week (to skip out on the weekend crowds!) and had faith that the rain would hold off while we were shooting and we went for it! It was perfect! Not too chilly for an April spring day and there was barely anyone in sight! These two had the floor and we had a BLAST! The first moment I saw them walking towards our first shooting spot, I had butterflies! I was SO excited to finally meet these two in person and hug them! They are seriously the SWEETEST humans and I just loved getting to know them better as a couple and hear all about their big plans for the wedding day next year! Annnnd can I just point out the amazing STYLE they both have! They were two for two with incredible and classy outfits that just made the overall look of their shoot so sophisticated! I loved it so much!! With these locations too? They did amazing on their outfits!
These two actually have an awesome story as to how they met! Kellie’s realtor set them up on a blind date!! They went to Dry Hop Brewers, got to know each other, and not very long after that, they fell in love! A few years later, Kevin proposed while they were decorating the Christmas tree together! HOW CUTE IS THAT!! Such an intimate moment just with each other! I love that so much! Kellie and Kevin , I just adore you two! Your summertime Chicago wedding next year is going to be here before we know it and I am officially counting down the days! I am SO honored to be a part of it!! I truly had such an awesome time hanging out with you during your engagement session and I hope you love what we captured together just as much as I do! :)
That DRESS!!! I was obsessed! She looks like a brunette Barbie! So pretty!
TIME TO POP SOME BUBBLY AND CELEBRATEEEE! When Kellie told me about this idea of bringing champagne to pop in the pictures, I was ALLLLL for it! With some careful planning, and with only one shot at it, I would say it was a huge success!
CHEEEERS TO YOU TWO! I am so so so excited to celebrate with you during your planning journey and can not wait to capture your wedding day next year! It’s going to definitely be one for the books and I don’t think this city is ready for it! Haha!
