For the past few years, I have considered myself only an engagement and wedding photographer and would only take clients that fit into those categories and because of how fast my business grew (SO thankful and blessed!) , I was so busy with those that I actually didn’t even have time to take on anything else!! Thennnn 2020 hit. The year that basically stripped away everything for everyone. I was at a stand still in my business for a good first half of this year, and that was terrifying to say the least. I’m sure it was for all of us. After the long time period of not being behind my camera, my first session back was actually a maternity session and MAN did it feel good to be shooting again! It was for a past 2018 couple of mine that have turned into such great friends which made the session even more special! I started getting inquiries for lifestyle and family type sessions and because of the whitespace I was given, I was able to say YES! It has been SUCH a joy to capture the genuine emotion and memories for the families and people that have come into my life this year and gave me the chance to challenge myself to be creative in different ways!
One of the main things that stick out to me that was a HUGE win this year and gave me so much happiness was a project that I came up with in September! On National Dog Day I LOVED seeing everyone’s posts of their doggos but I was quick to notice something. Pretty much every post that I saw was just a photo of the dog. We all accumulate so many photos on our phones of our pup babies but how often are you IN a photo with your dog?! So I had an idea. What if I made mini sessions that were focused on capturing you WITH your dogs. Pup & Me Mini Sessions! It was a huge hit and I got such awesome feedback on it! It was such a different thing for me to photograph and being able to play with dogs while shooting? DREAM JOB! It was the best!
I was asked to photograph sweet Livi’s portraits for her 16th birthday, and her parents were going to pull off the most epic and perfect surprise at the session and they had me in on the scoop the entire time! They gifted her a CAR!! And I got to capture her reaction, and get some fun photos of her with her new car! SO FUN!! There were a few pregnancy announcements that I also had the honor of capturing and keeping that secret for them for a while until they publicly announced that baby was on the way which was so sweet!!
I also was able to offer Christmas Mini Sessions this year which was another favorite of mine that was a huge hit! We had the sessions at a new favorite location of mine and I got to capture some festive love for some sweet families and couples and it just warmed my heart! Lots of families! Lots of milestones! Lots of DOGGOS! Lots of pure JOY was captured this year and I am forever grateful for everyone who trusted me with their memories and I can not thank you all enough for having me be a part of your lives! You were such a special part of my 2020 year and I will forever be thankful for what this year turned out to be for my business! Now lets get into all the FUN that was had this year, shall we? :)
