This year has definitely been filled with lots of surprises to say the least, but I’ve also been experiencing some “firsts” with my couples which has been so exciting and fun! I love when couples plan their engagement sessions to coordinate and reflect their personalities, things that they like or just something that screams “THEM”! Earlier this year for example, for the 2nd half of a shoot one of my couples wanted to change out of their dressier clothes, throw on some jeans and their leather jackets and take photos with the grooms motorcycle!! What!! So cool! It was a first for me and it felt so refreshing to do something I’ve never done before! It definitely made me have to think outside the box and get my creative juices flowing! Another “first” happened with Kristie and Connor! After knowing each other for a while, they finally had their unofficial first date at Wrigley Field AND a few years later, he proposed right in front of the big marquee “Wrigley Field Home of Chicago Cubs” sign and blew Kristie away! This place has special meaning to them so having their engagement photos taken here was a big deal!
It was SO much fun exploring around the Wrigley area and also chatting all about wedding things! Gosh, I have been WAITING to get these two in front of my camera since the day they booked me to be their photographer! I’ve known Kristie for a while now and finally meeting Connor and seeing them in person together was so sweet! They compliment each other so perfectly and they are such a beautiful couple!
After hitting all of the major spots at Wrigley, they wanted to go to a more nature-y location so we headed to the Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk! One of my favorite locations in the city! We even found a GEM of a spot that you wouldn’t even guess that it’s right smack dab in the middle of Chicago! We got some of my all time favorite shots there!
I honestly had to keep reminding myself that I was actually working because it felt so much like I was hanging out with some old friends! They are such a darling couple and so much fun to be around! AND, they seriously can not take a bad photo! I have SO many favorites from their session! Chatting all about the details of the big day has be SO excited for their wedding next summer at The BRIX on the Fox! Until then, I have these dreamy photos to look at while I daydream about how amazing their big day is going to be and I can get them in front of my camera again!
