Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby, Illinois has been a favorite hiking place for me for so long! Living in a small country town basically in the middle of no where, this is basically the closest place that would feed the craving for adventure without having too far of a drive. (those that live near the mountains have it SO nice!) There are 13 miles of trails that allow you to explore waterfalls (depending on the time of year), cliffs, canyons, wildlife sightings and incredible views of the Illinois River!
When Alena reached out to me with an opportunity to join her and her family on a hiking day to photograph their adventures, I was floored. WHAT! A dream come true! I couldn’t say yes fast enough! They were staying for the weekend close by at Camp Aramoni and had a game plan to start the day with a fueling breakfast and coffee, then head to Starved Rock for their guided hike. It was such a cool experience to document this day for them so they have photographs from a part of their trip! They were able to fully enjoy their time together making memories knowing that someone was there to capture it all! One of my favorite parts of the hike was when we reached the top of one of the tallest overlooks and had a picnic style lunch to take in the beautiful views! You felt like you were on top of the world! I loved everything about this session and I’m so grateful to have been the one to join this fam on this adventure filled day!
