Livi’s sweet momma reached out to me and asked if I offer portrait sessions for individuals, specifically for her daughters birthday. She had mentioned that her daughter and her friends always take pictures at parks together and thought it would be special to book a photographer to do a small portrait session for her. AND…. she was going to surprise Livi with a CAR for her birthday so they wanted to work it into the shoot. W H A T! How fun is that!! I was SO on board! We planned out the location and included her best friend and her boyfriend into the shoot and before we knew it, it was shoot day. I was so excited for this!
I finally got to meet sweet Livi and her family and we started the session with just portraits of her showcasing her turning 16! It is not a birthday shoot without big number balloons, am I right?! We incorporated her best friend and boyfriend into the shoot and then we moved locations. We were getting closer to the big surprise at the end! I was so excited!
I told Livi’s parents that they should park the new car down the street from the location that we were doing her portrait session at, and we would make our way down the street to it. I very casually told her “since it’s your 16th birthday, let’s do some fun photos in front of a car cuz why not, right?” She totally followed along with it, but I could tell she was unsure about taking pictures in front of a random persons car, haha! Then I said “I think you need to be holding some car keys!” and her mom came over and handed her HER car keys, but she had no idea!
I said “Livi, you know what, I think this might be YOUR car?!!!” She looked down at the keys, back up at her parents and they nodded and said “hit the button, see if it opens the car!”
She had NO IDEA!!! It was the best surprise ever!!

This was such a fun shoot to be a part of and I loved seeing Livi’s true genuine reaction to her getting her first car! We pulled off the surprise perfectly!
