A quintessential summer day. Playing with bubble wands, cooling off with a water balloon fight, drawing on the driveway with chalk and chasing your sister around in your motorized ride in cars! (or should I say, Jeep and tractor) These are things that you can typically find G and E doing in the summertime at home to soak up the sunshine in between naps and snack breaks. Their sweet momma Erin reached out to me and wanted me to come to their home and document these activities that the girls enjoy together at this age to have documentation of how their childhood looks right now— and I LOVED this so much! This is what being a kid is all about, and Erin wanted photographs to be able to hold on to these memories, this stage, of her girls simply playing. I can still hear their sweet giggles when I look at these images. Their free spirit laugher how it naturally comes out when they chase each other with water balloons.
Everything about this session really pushed me back to take a deeper look at what really is important in our family photographs. Images of our kids’ childhoods. Real documentation of how our days actually looked. These are the photos that I would be excited to pull out to show my kids one day. To show them what life was like, authentically. This is what filled our days and are embedded in the memories and stories we tell.
