When Tara told me about her vision for sweet Remy’s cake smash session and that she wanted it to be “boho themed”, I was SO excited! She sent me photos of a tepee, flowers, lace, pillows, and when I look at the final images- MAN she blew it out of the water! I am OBSESSED with how this session turned out and she definitely brought her idea and vision to LIFE! Cake smash sessions are quickly becoming a favorite thing of mine to photograph because 1. they are so darn sweet (lol) and 2. I love when something has a good theme around it and trying to pull details together to make everything make sense to that theme is so much fun to me! Tara wanted the color palette to be pinks and creams, and can we just talk about how adorable Remy’s bow romper is from Pat Pat! The soft mauve color is gorgeous! She also brought enough pillows that could fit inside the tepee and matched the colors perfectly! It all came together so well!
Once a cake smash session starts, I am always so excited to see how the child reacts to the cake. Some will be VERY confused and not want to touch the cake because getting dirty and sticky just isn’t their thing lol, and some will dive RIGHT into the cake! Remy I think started out in the first category, and then very quickly realized that the cake was delicious and she was all over it! Literally! ;) She took her time enjoying her cake, and one of my favorite parts was that she was SO darn sweet and every other bite, she offered to share it with mommy and daddy and reached her arm out to give them a piece! She has a heart of gold, I can already tell!
I’m SO happy that we got to capture these sweet memories for Remy! I had to hold back big time from digging into that gorgeous and delicious smelling cake from Alliecakes Custom Cakes the whole time haha! This is definitely one of my favorite lifestyle sessions to date! (Tara I think needs her own decorating or party planning business, don’t you think! This setup was PERFECT!)
